TestComplete Furthers UI Innovation and Automation with Version 14.3

Wednesday, November 20, 2019

TestComplete is finishing out 2019 on a high note, following previous releases that included AI-powered visual recognition, integration with Zephyr for Jira, support for Shadow DOM, tight integration with Azure DevOps, PDF testing, and major enhancements in performance and stability of the platform. We also introduced native support for BDD-style Gherkin syntax through our integration with Hiptest, part of the SmartBear BDD portfolio that also includes Cucumber.

The 14.3 release will continue to further accelerate your UI testing initiatives, with new innovative features and continued support for major application types and platforms. At SmartBear, we know this industry is complex, so we strive to simplify it at every level. No matter what your area of expertise, we are dedicated to quality while getting you through your end of the SDLC, at every part of the pipeline. Yours in particular.

Self-Healing Tests

Automated tests often fail because properties of objects in the Application Under Test change frequently. This is not a result of bugs in the application, but due to flaky automation tests that are tightly bound to object properties. The result is many hours spent on activities to maintain your tests, which prevent you from seeing the full value of test automation.

In this release we’ve added AI-powered self-healing capabilities that will automatically identify unexpected errors due to dynamic properties and recommend an alternative. This prevents your test from failing and gives you the opportunity to accept the fix after test execution, saving you time and effort reviewing failures. Support for Applications Built in Electron 7

Electron is quickly becoming a standard for app development as it combines the best of both web and desktop worlds. Testing Electron-based applications is not straightforward and requires a high-level of technical expertise to set up and author automation test cases. TestComplete makes it easy to create automated tests for Electron applications, without requiring any programming or set-up time. In this release, we extend support to applications created in Electron 7. More details here.

Azure DevOps Integration Enhancements

We are excited to build on our renewed Azure DevOps integration that we released in version 14.2. This integration and synchronization with Azure test plans ensures that automated tests are part of your application build pipeline. We’ve heard your feedback and have added more capabilities to further streamline the integration between Azure DevOps and TestComplete. You now can connect to virtual machines that are not logged in, filter Azure manual tests so that you can easily link them to automated tests, choose TestComplete or TestExecute as your execution engine, and more! Support for iOS 13 and Android 10

As mobile testing continues to increase in importance, it is crucial to ensure that applications work on the latest versions. iOS13 and Android 10, the latest iterations, are now supported in TestComplete. Simply plug in your device iOS or Android device, launch the Application Under Test, record or script user flows and finally playback your tests real-time on your real device. Learn more here.
